I'm tired of the "we need to educate users" discourse in this field of technology. People be aware, you might be excluded from the metaverse they're pushing onto us because they are not considering your needs.

One slimy dude muffled something about adding sound, another one got my question wrong. The rest didn't say a word.

Just asked a panel of "VR experts" how they were ensuring that their technology is accessible to everyone, notably for visually-impaired people. Unsurprisingly, I've got an unsatisfying answer...

If you see open-source solutions as a competition for your products, then maybe your business plan is trash.

Open-source isn't about coming for you, but to provide to everyone.

An adult Chinese Pond-Heron (Ardeola bacchus) spotted at the Serangoon River Park Connector, Singapore, on 2 April 2022. I've spotted juvenile or non-breeding adults before, but this is the first time I've seen an adult in breeding plumage.

The Chinese Pond-Heron is an uncommon migrant bird.

My first #BeeFly this year!

Although they might look intimidating with their long proboscis, they are absolutely harmless (as long as you are not a target for their larvae that is, but if you're not an insect, you need not worry).

They usually just sit or buzz around, looking for some sweet nectar to feed on. And pollinate plants this way! Some even hover while sucking nectar like tiny hummingbirds, which just makes them even more awesome. :blobaww:

A Golden-backed Weaver (Ploceus jacksoni) spotted at Kranji Marshes, Singapore, on 27 March 2022. It pulled a grass thread and tied it to the stem of a plant. The markings indicate it is an immature bird, so I'm not sure if it was really going to build a nest.

The Golden-backed Weaver is an introduced bird from Africa, and builds hanging nests made of grass.

Stop with the "X to partner with Y to develop the Metaverse" headlines, we already know that they are all ganging up to push us into their new exploitation tool.
